Senior Stress Analyst

We have an exciting opportunity for experienced Stress Engineers / Analysts. Based in Bristol (hybrid), you will be assigned to a major new defence project, where your skills and experience in Structural Analysis / FEA will be fully utilized.

• The Senior Stress Analyst shall provide technical support to the Mission Systems projects in order to optimise designs for strength and performance. 
• Day to day, the candidate will provide specialist analysis across Mission Systems.
• This includes the provision of customer facing qualification evidence for both mechanical and fluid systems on the boat and ship platforms within the work portfolio.

• Mechanical Degree or HND or HNC in an Engineering Discipline.

• Significant experience in stress analysis in a high integrity environment, e.g. nuclear, defence.
• Evidence of checking stress analysis both FEA and mechanical.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• A good understanding of mechanics of equipment and relevant load paths.
• Demonstration of adherence to of cost and duration targets.
• Good understanding of engineering mathematics and the ability to develop solutions from first principles.

• Relevant Engineering Institution and working towards Professional Registration.
• Previous experience in stress analysis or design in a high integrity environment, e.g. nuclear, defence.
• Experience of stress analysis in a marine environment, depth pressure, sea state and shock loading.
• Experience of CAD packages (NX).
• Experience of ANSYS AND MathCAD calculation software.
• Strong mathematic / coding ability – to develop bespoke solutions / simulations.
