    Expleo is an established Aerospace & Defense Engineering Services Organization supporting our customers with Engineering and Quality services. Currently we have an opening for a First Article Inspector (AS9102) / Quality Engineer with Manufacturing experience.

    The First Article Inspector role provides support to the quality department regarding the coordination of all First Article Inspections that are required to be performed per the AS9100 and AS9102 requirements. The person in this role will provide leadership with the inspection activities and the creation of all FAIR’s needed for internal records as well as per customer requirements which also serves as the design validation for our product line. This role will work closely with production and the quality inspection team to ensure all product being provided for the FAIR process is free of discrepancies and defects in addition to providing accurate documentation for the outgoing product. This position requires considerable coordination and organizational skill in addition to a keen sense of drawing & process specification interpretation. In this position, the individual will provide the leadership that is required for all of the coordination and support regarding the First Article process that will enhance the current Quality group. Other responsibilities may include various other activities in support of all outgoing product.

    Responsibilities

    Primary Responsibilities Include:

     

    • Work from complex blueprints, special instructions such as process specifications, supplier purchase orders, customer purchase orders and flow down requirements, inspection plans, and instructions.
    • Coordinate the collection of all required documentation of supplier documentation, original manufacturing certifications, inspection data and all additional paperwork required in support of the First Article Process based upon customer requirements and priorities.
    • Leads manufacturing inspection personnel in the validation inspection work relating to all First Article Inspections per AS9102 specification requirements in addition to controlling of all data inputs and GD&T interpretations with regards to the final print requirements to ensure first time through acceptance.
    • Generation and/or creation and assembly of necessary documentation, in support of all First Article Test Reports as requested by the customer or driven by process changes or product introduction which includes creation of AS9102 Form based on individual drawing requirements.
    • Work with customers, suppliers, manufacturing engineering, design engineering, configuration, inspection and value streams as required to create the First article packages.
    • Coordinate with the quality and value streams to gather and prepare all required department and customer certification packages, paperwork, records and serial number log and other quality related files and records.
    • Prepare and upload data or inspection reports into customer portals or Net Inspect, as required.
    • Guide and train inspectors in creating the FAIR documentation from the inspection portion of the process and be prepared to answer technical questions with regards to the FAIR process as needed.
    • Posses and maintain competence in GD&T and drawing interpretation and always working to the latest specification call-outs in GD&T.
    • Identify Issues at every level of production, keen awareness of inspection processes during manufacturing processing, and verify inspection requirements are to the most current revision of the manufacturing routing relating back to the correct revision of the final drawing related to data collection for the FAIR process.
    • Point of contact for the FAIR process and customer communication for submittal and any corrections required based upon the customer’s review.
    • Aid in the scanning process for maintaining all quality records related to the FAIR process so the retrieval process is seamless.

    Qualifications

    Primary Qualifications include:

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience applying quality principles in a Manufacturing Environment.
    • Thorough knowledge of Quality Systems and Inspections to include the AS9102 Standard.
    • Knowledge of Sikorsky Quality requirements is a plus.

    Experience

    Education

    Requires a B.S. in Aerospace, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in a related field.
