Manages the People Services team in South Africa which includes the Durban and Johannesburg locations. Develops and implements HR strategies and initiatives that are aligned to the business strategy.   Ensures that people services processes and policies are fit for purpose and working effectively. 


  • Leads the formulation of People Services policies, procedures, systems and initiatives with the People Services team.
  • Is a trusted business advisor to the SA Leadership Team on all people related matters.
  • Supports key stakeholders on disciplinary, grievance, conflict management and capability issues using a problem-solving approach in order to minimise business risk.
  • Lead the Recruitment team to ensure recruitment, selection and onboarding process is managed efficiently.
  • Manages internal Learning & Development ensuring that the workforces capabilities skills and competencies are developed to support career growth.
  • Drives the Great Place to Work Survey through management and coordinates teams to act on results and support consistent action planning, to increase overall engagement scores.
  • Manages the full performance management lifecycle, working closely with key stakeholders to ensure consistency and timeliness of the cycle are met.
  • Proactively communicates within the organisation on key changes that effect employees and avoid escalations.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with Operations, Finance and senior leadership team to resolve critical issues that affect business delivery.
  • Works flexibly and collaboratively with other colleagues in the wider Group People Services team, proactively identifying areas for service improvement within the People Services function both locally and at a Group level.
  • Produces People Services reports on activity, exit interview findings, site visit outcomes, absence, employee engagement, ER issues, T&D initiatives and others as requested
  • Develops the People Services Team to progress their careers into business partners.
  • Attends and contributes to regular senior management meetings as People Services representative.
  • Ensure that all legislated reporting requirements are met and submitted by the deadlines and to the required standard (including but not limited to COIDA, Stats SA, Workplace Skills Plan / Annual Training Report (WSP/ATR), Employment Equity Plans and Reporting)
  • Monitor, track and guide the performance of each element of the BBBEE scorecard relating to Human Resources and proactively highlight the indicators / elements requiring intervention.


  • Bachelor’s Degree or professional qualification in Human Resources or similar certification.


  • Strong Organisational Skills with proven ability to prioritise tasks

  • Up to 10 years’ experience in Human Resources, preferable in a Consultancy organisation. Experience of Recruitment, Learning & Development, Employee Relations and Employee Engagement.
  • Proven people management experience
  • Strong knowledge of SA Labour Laws
